Ok, I know a lot of people don't want their hard work getting ripped, who would.  But holy crap.  what's up with the HUGE watermarks completely covering some pieces of work?!  I mean at least use photoshop to fade it a "little" bit so that you can actually see and enjoy the piece without the huge ugly watermark completely covering any detail that might have made the artwork enjoyable to some one.  instead of getting nice detail and enjoyment of a piece all you get is an ugly watermark staring back at you.  [/rant]

new job

2 min read
Well, it's been a few months at my new job...
and i absolutely love it!

I only have to go in the office 2 days a week max and the rest of the time i get to work in my PJ's =P

That in and of itself is a bonus but i also save a good bit in gas money.  that and the very large raise i got from taking this job.

On top of that, i really like what i'm doing.  it's new and a slight change of direction from what i was doing.  still along the same path, but a different path.

Well, after 10 years of working at the same company, I've decided to take a new job at a different company.  It's a substantial raise, but  I'm a little scared to leave my comfort zone. I'm also excited as I'll be moving on to something new and hopefully more exciting.

I actually get to give my notice today (if my boss is in) :)  should be fun.  I bet my boss has a breakdown =P  We're very short handed right now and I'm the only person who does Linux support in the United states for my company.  We do have a few in Australia and France, but I'm the Lead person for it.  Unfortunately my company doesn't make counter offers.  If they did, i'd probably take it.  But knowing they don't will also make this a little easier.

Ah well, just wanted to vent a little.  As Heraclitus once said, "The only constant is change"

Update:  Well today's my last day at work :)  i came in to find out i couldn't log onto the network.  They disabled my ID.  LOL.  But i managed to get onto the internet to check out DA for the last time here.  Don't worry, i'm not leaving.  I'll still be browsing from home and probably actually get around to posting some stuff up.  My team leader has been a real piece of work for the past week too.  he's really not cut out for the job he's doing.  Anyway.  10 years here went by very fast.  Hopefully I like my new job :D

Pay it forward

2 min read
Well, reading PleisarPup's journal I decided to take part in a "pay it forward" event here on DA.

Here is my offer to "pay it forward". I will be posting this in other places, so if you're interested, please respond ASAP. Once the slots are filled, they're gone. And don't forget to pay it forward!

Pay It Forward: I will create a gift (be it something that's handmade, drawn, written, etc.) to the first 5 people who leave a comment to this message. I don't know yet just what that gift will be, so any suggestions or requests are welcome. You will receive that gift within 365 days and I will be doing this in order of who responded first since that's fair, so please be patient. The only thing you have to do in return is "pay it forward" by making a similar agreement on your journal. If you don't, then our agreement is void. :nana:
Please help to pay it forward!

1. :iconskelefish: (gift in progress)
2. (gift in progress)
3.
4.
5.

NYC was fun

3 min read
Journal

well, I had a good time in NYC at my training class.  I really  enjoyed  my  stay.  I loved just walking around and having  everything I could want so close.

Living near Philly  I've gone into the city quite a bit for various things.  I think Philly really lacks in comparison.  Philly also has a LOT of bad neighborhoods.  I didn't see anywhere near the same degree in NY.  I'm not sure why but it seems a lot more "together" of a place.

Right now  I live out in the country and it's nice, but I really found the city just exciting and full of  life.  If I could find  a job that would pay me  an equivalent salary I'd really consider moving.  But the chances of that are probably slim.

oh well, Hopefully I'll get  a chance to travel there again sometime soon.

anyway, here are a few pics I took with my camera phone (sorry, it was all I had with me)
